  • Commemorative

The sentimental and commemorative value that jewellery holds is undeniably one of the main reasons we are so attached to these objects. Jewellery stays in the family and often has matriarchal lineage. Hand engraving is a beautiful way to capture an image on metal. My olive branches, birds, boats, anchors and byzantine crosses are engraved by Duncan Vickers.

A symbol of connectedness and playfulness these paper chains are inspired by the paper chains we all made as children. Three oversized links are finished off with a long leather link.

  • Silver opens at Museum of Brisbane

    November 25, 2013

silverSilver is a new exhibition at the wonderfully restored Museum of Brisbane. Curated by Jacqueline Armistead, six jewellers have been paired up with six photographers to collaborate on new artworks inspired by Brisbane. I was lucky to be paired up with the talented Michael Cooke (as pictured) I won’t say too much about the show and let the art do the talking.  Until 27 April 2014.

  • ‘Things I Love’ by Megan Morton

    October 26, 2012

Last Wed night I attended the launch and signing of Megan Morton’s new book ‘Things I Love’. The book is filled with tons of interesting people and their spaces like Paula Hayes and Martyn Thompson. Our old house is featured in the ‘Houses I Love’ chapter. Books are available at ARI Jewellery and all signed by the beautiful Megan Morton.

My mood board – on the inside cover. This board is usually dripping with jewels in the shop front window or at the back of the workshop covered in sketches and samples for new pieces.

  • 100 Women 100 Brooches 100 Stories

    October 4, 2011

‘Tinker Tailor Soldier Sailor’ was launched at Gallery Artisan last Thursday to celebrate 100 years of International Women’s Day.   100 great Australian women paired up with a jeweller to produce a brooch in response to their stories. I was paired up with Dr Dorothy Hill a geologist that worked extensively in Queensland. I really enjoyed this project as there were some lovely connections. I choose mica from Mt Isa and sapphire from Rubyvale. The simple claw setting allows the materials to speak for themselves. If you are interested in contemporary jewellery this is a must see show. ‘Tinker Tailor’ continues to 12th November and will continue on a National Tour.
